Sparrow had a large head and very short tail. Lores were small bright golden yellow color. It had a central light colored stripe on the crown flanked by dark stripes/streaking. The back and wings had dark and heavy contrasting streaking. Bright white eye ring was almost neon it was so bright. Warm buff breast was free of streaking. I flushed it from the yellow wildflower field by the retention ponds at the dead end of Terminal Avenue, directly behind the police precinct. It was sitting on the ground in the flowers before hiding in the nearby shrub line.
