Heard consistently throughout the morning, but mostly very distant. At the furthest point we went (only a little past the point where the trail turns, we continued up the creekbed) we heard two vocalizing back and forth. We listened there for a bit before heading back down the trail to try our luck there. We started hearing vocalizations closer, further down the trail, and continued. Eventually we could tell they were very close by. We got a glimpse of one as it flew up the canyon. We could still hear one in front of us, so we continued and were rewarded with a brief but breathtaking view as a trogon perched on a branch in front of us before continuing up the canyon after the other. Possibly 4 total, but we are confident about at least 3. We saw the trogons approximately half a mile from the trailhead at the parking lot, at around 9:15am. After the trogons moved up the canyon, we quickly stopped hearing them and did not hear them again the rest of the time. Amazing lifers!
