Podrobnosti k pozorování
30 is an estimate. I walked south along Arboretum Drive from the level of Skunk Cabbage Bridge to the point where the road curves west to go up the hill to the Wingra Springs parking lot. As I walked I found a couple area where there was separation of the nearby trees so that I could see the trees to the west at Wingra Woods. What I saw above the trees were Chimney Swifts flying who I assumed were feeding on insects (mosquitoes?). They flew back and forth between points north and south. In between they were swerving all over to catch the insects. I may have been recounting the same Swifts over and over so I'm not sure of the numbers. This is the first time I've ever seen such activity. I made these observations between 10:45 am and 11:15 am. I shared this unique event with many people walking by or riding their bikes by. They all found the activity of the chimney swifts fascinating as did I. I tried to catch some of the activity with my camera.
