**Informal Whippoorwill survey following Glenn D's route. Same total that I had last year running this same route. First bird started at 8:37pm, which is went I started the track. The conditions were about as good as I'm going to get here, with the ~10-12 mph winds during the day decreasing to ~6-8mph, and I got lucky and didn't have much interference listening from cars during the route, especially for the first 8 stops or so (out of 17). The best area is the Quail Fields, which had 8 of the 26, despite being a relatively small section of the route. 14 were in the first ~2.5 miles; when I shift to the north the forest succession is much further along, and the EWPW really thin out, with most of them in this large section (~5 miles) being in locations of disturbance or somewhat of an opening in the forest - for example along gas lines and old/current dirt bike tracks.
