NOTES: Neotropical Institute Cut # 3. Bulk reel: 197 Very likely same bird, although I was on other side cano (where the bird seemed to have been previously and was today, too). Quality: ~1-2. Level: +14. 139 tape. No parabola. In trying to get closer the birds flew "prematurely." There were app. two birds there and had been only ~ one-half way up, not in top of tree. Field Note: In general there has been much more booming song activity apparent by both this species and C. alector during this second week March, than when I was here in January. On the night of 13 March (actually after midnight and one night before full moon) there was a real "orgy" of song by both species. How long it had been going on I don't know but I became aware of it at 2:00 AM when I returned from other side of cano and it continued from then until 6:00 AM at least. See Cut 24 of P. jacquacu for comments re: this species in July 1968. See Cut 30 of P. jacquacu for comments re: this species in November 1968. Note: In beginning of Cuts 2b & 3 are calls that seem to be of Crypturellus cinereus. Some of these are probably of Lipaugus vociferans but others seem rather to be of the tinamou. [Recordist did not indicate type of microphone used. He did not use a parabola.].
