Podrobnosti k pozorování
Two adults and one immature either advanced second cycle or delayed third cycle. Adults both slate gray backed with head streaking, concentrated behind pale eye, although one with heavier streaking than the other (both in view simultaneously). On water, proportionally longer-winged than Westerns. Immature had mostly dark bill with pale tip, white head and underparts with well-defined streaking on crown, nape, and neck, and behind pale eye. Mantle was a mix of ages, including both dark gray scapulars and wing coverts and dark brown immature feathers, some with pale marbling. A few mostly white central rectrices also replaced. This bird was longer-winged and less dumpy adjacent Westerns, but surprisingly large and heavy-billed. It appears to be the same bird photographed by others on Jan 16.
