Fantastic. Reported on 12/14 by Andy Wilson. I stationed myself at the checklist pin, facing south. I heard a weird bark behind me about two minutes after I arrived. The first owl flew in shortly after and began hunting the field in front of me. The second bird appeared a few minutes after that. Both were in view simultaneously several times. One of the birds almost landed on me, flying directly at my face, then veering off at the last second. Like… 30 feet away, if that. I watched them for a few more minutes and one was still hunting when I left. And just because owls are involved, I feel like I should say this: Please don’t ruin this. This is a quiet, narrow, dead-end country road. The birds appeared on their own without any playback or squeaking. There’s no need to walk onto the property either. Just quietly observe from where I pinned the list 🦉
