Podrobnosti k pozorování
Compare size of bird to Least Sandpiper in photo. Smaller than a Greater Yellowlegs with thinner and shorter bill than a Greater. Bill is the size of the head - well, a tiny bit longer than the head. On a Greater, the bill would be at least one and a half times the size of the head or longer. On a Greater, the bill would be more upturned, not straight and pointed like on this bird. In the photos comparing him to a Least Sandpiper, the Least kept preening and is the bird on the left. The Lesser Yellowlegs is the bird on the right. You can see by length the Lesser Yellowlegs, which is about 10.5" in length thereabouts, is not much bigger than the Least Sandpiper, which is 6" in length thereabouts. A Greater would appear much bigger than the Least Sandpiper in both length and height. Seen and heard calling for several minutes.
