Podrobnosti k pozorování
First county record, originally found by Dick Green and refound by Bruce Munson. Dark ibis with maroon head and body and iridescent green/purple wings (especially the coverts, remiges were a plainer bluish-gray), long legs with pinkish tone/color, long decurved gray bill, pink-red facial skin, and a white/cream line extending around the facial skin behind the eye to connect to the other side. In flight, long neck and bill were very apparent. Outer leading edge of the wings was pushed forward a little, with trailing edge looking fairly evenly curved and of fairly uniform width (not terribly unlike the silhouette of a banana minus the stalk), short almost squared off tail with legs and large feet trailing behind. I've seen some comments about this bird being a potential hybrid, but I do not believe that to be the case. The comments I've heard/seen seem to cast doubt due to a muted facial skin color and facial skin outline width and color. I didn't see anything out of place with either trait for White-faced. The light was fairly dark and while not far, at the distance the bird was, it's not surprising that these traits were not as easily viewable. Upon closer viewing of the bird, the facial skin was a brighter pink and the line around it was more of a cream color as I am used to seeing in White-faced and in my experience, width of line is a fairly variable trait.
