LIFER!!!! Rarity, many observers, and many that stayed for HOURS waiting (even taking naps while waiting). The thrush had been there in the early morning but was gone by the time I arrived. After a nine hour sit-and-wait myself, the thrush FINALLY showed up again at about 4:15pm(?) Beautiful melodic, flutey whistled song, and it sang extensively. (Was still singing when I left two hours later). Great views for most of the observers present, including myself a couple of times, but I managed to miss the good photo views twice. Ended up with very disappointingly horrid photos. So I kept sitting, hoping for better. Finally got some passably okay photos when it came down onto the mud at 6:13pm. Whew, what a looooooong day! [*****Personal note, Nov 19, 2023: well this was ridiculously unexplainable - I added an audio file to this sighting three years ago. In the entire three years it has sat there saying “processing audio” and never did finish, so could never be played. Due to this abysmal failure, I ended up never adding audio to any other sighting since then, until today - a recording of a Grace’s Warbler I found on my phone, from 2019. This one uploaded (and played) in only a few seconds, with no problem. So I stubbornly tried re-uploading the Clay-colored Thrush audio file again - the exact same one (unchanged) that I had tried to upload to media in 2020. It now uploaded in less than 20 seconds and worked just fine! Better late than never, I guess. Good grief.]
