Looking closer, I saw its dark, though moulting head. I remembered how much larger Steller’s Jays are compared to the Blue Jays out east. Given their opportunistic family, I questioned why I seldom saw them outside of the steep mountains. Nevertheless, it makes it all the more magical to see one out behind a waterfall even with fewer head feathers than normal.
