Podrobnosti k pozorování
Small, short-billed goose foraging with Canada Geese. The light gray and black trimmed upperparts, black breast and neck combined with white face (except black loral line), light gray midsection with blurry gray bars, white vent and rump. This bird flew off and landed in the cornfield to the west and was not visible then behind the hill. In flight, the underwings were pale gray and contrasted with the darker remiges. The upperwing was pale gray too but patterned. The beak was black and stubby; the legs and feet were slate gray to blackish. This bird was first found late on 22 March (after 5 p.m.) by Camden Martin and Gary Jarvis somewhere along North River Road, presumably in one of the several pastures or cornfields here. A bird at the Thornhurst Farm in Cumberland County, 22 miles due south, was last reported mid-morning the same day. I suppose this could be the same bird.
