Podrobnosti k pozorování
Relocated the small flock roosting on the side of the river bank approximately 350 yards up river from the dam. Long-legged whistling-duck with pinkish orange legs and feet. Bright orange bill and gray head except for a dark crown stripe that wrapped around the back of the bird's head. White eye-ring. Rust colored mantle, lower neck, and chest that transitions to a black belly/tail. In flight unique wing pattern with glossy black underwing lining. Upper wing coverts light tan to light gray, medium coverts white, and primaries/secondaries black. Like other whistling ducks the secondaries and primaries appear to of equal length giving the wing a "rounded appearance". General note, that these birds are attempting to feed across the river from the Lions Club in the residence's backyards, however a territorial CAGO has been chasing them away further up river. They can be found roosting next to a small forsythia bush behind a gray/red house.
