Podrobnosti k pozorování
Arrived a little before 7 and spent the first 2ish hours scanning surrounding area from the end of the pier. Someone alerted the group that they had the bird in their scope, but it was distant and only visible from one vantage point on the pier. Not too longer after, the bird flew out of sight and the crowd started to work their way off the pier to give the working fishermen room. I walked up onto a rock on the edge of the parking lot and started scanning the islands again and quickly caught a flash of white at the top of a conifer on Crow Island: the Steller's Sea-Eagle! What a distinctive bird, hard to mistake it when compared to any other expected species in this area. In the lighting, the bird appeared mostly black with clean white patches on the wings, white "pants" and a ridiculously large orange bill. White tail seen in flight. The bird was absolutely stunning in flight. Awesome experience, despite the fog and rain.
