Podrobnosti k pozorování
An altogether incredible experience. When I arrived, a baseball game was in progress in the left back ball field, near the fence and the path along the bushes frequented by the Kirtland's Warbler. Staying behind the fence was not possible. While I was there the Warbler stayed very low in the bushes or on the ground just behind the ball field. The only feasible way to see the bird - and under the circumstances probably best in every respect for bird and birders - was to try to see the bird from the lower path. It was only a few steps over a few low rocks from the upper to the lower path. I thought I could negotiate those few feet without falling - but promptly landed on my rear end. Many thanks to Nolan Tucker for helping me back up onto my feet, and then a few minutes later back onto the upper path! And thanks to everyone else there who helped me see and photograph this bird. In my view, everyone was being helpful to everyone else, and everyone was also being respectful of the bird. Today it was more a matter of the bird approaching incredibly close to the people, rather than the people harassing the bird. See photos and video. The last three photos are frames from the video.
