Podrobnosti k pozorování
Roger Schoedl and I found and ID'd this bird at 8:45 Saturday morning. It was on the north side of the dry but still mucky lake bed just north of the library. Bird stayed low along edge, constantly moving and calling fairly regularly. The call was a sharp, but not metallic "chuck", much heavier and flatter than an Orange-crowned but much lighter than a Hermit Thrush. It was constantly foraging, coming down to the ground to grab food before hopping back up into overhanging branches. It never walked on the ground and did not flick it tail at any point. Certainly preferred being in cover. Look low. A few others arrived thereafter, Brain Daniels among them. He tentatively confirmed the ID from photos. The bird resurfaced along the same edge around 9:30 where he and few others got a good look at it. At that point word was put onto the street. I left at around 11:45. It as very hot at that point, and I suspect the bird might resurface later in the afternoon when it cools down a bit.
