Podrobnosti k pozorování
First found by the homeowner on November 5, and I was graciously allowed to view the bird. First county record. Submitted documentation to the CBRC. This was an immature male as it had a gray not green belly. The bill was long, very bright orange at the base, and the base was noticeably wide. The chest was a blueish green, and the crown a duller emerald green and there was a white supercilium that extended behind the eye. The tail was long, dark gray and forked, and the undertail coverts white. The throat had a messy, spotted blue gorget. Voice: The hummingbird called when exiting and returning to the backyard. The call was a harsh “jit jit”, reminiscent of a Ruby-crowned Kinglet, but lacking the tonal variation of kinglet calls.
