Continuing in canal near wooden bridge w Mallards. This bird (quoting the eBird reviewer, Marshall Iliff): "shows multiple traits that can only come from Mallard parentage, including: 1) white orders to both sides of the speculum, whereas Eastern Spot-billed usually only has white on the trailing edge; 2) reddish cast to the breast; 3) curly tail feathers; 4) reduced white in the tertials; 5) overall paler plumage than pure Eastern Spot-billed; 6) duller and less distinct yellowish tip to bill than in pure birds."
