NOTES: (General Climate: Wet; Cover Den: Thick) All calls are made by female; the male onloy sings. About half-way, the female joins the singing, performing the higher pitched song. After the announcement both male and female were calling, the female made the higher pitched call. Originally identified by the recordist as Thamnophilus punctatus. Reidentified by Isler, Isler, and Whitney as T. atrinucha as part of their study on species limits in the T. punctatus complex (see Isler et al. 1997).
