Podrobnosti k pozorování
This is a typical 'fraseri', i.e. a small-billed upland bird. The bill is relatively thin and pointed with a straight (rather than convex) profile, typical for small-billed birds. Genetically, there is no distinction between lowland small-billed birds (acunhae) and upland small-billed birds ('fraseri') and the only obvious phenotypic difference is that upland birds are more yellow, as can be seen in this individual. However, this is likely just an effect of the different diet, with upland birds eating Nemertea berries, and N. a. acunhae and N. a. 'fraseri' could be synonymized. This bird was trapped, ringed, and sampled for research on the speciation mechanisms within Nesospiza.
