Podrobnosti k pozorování
Continuing bird found by Dessi in the willow trees and cottonwood trees by the 14th tee. Larry, Bobby, Paul, and later Chris spent most of our time watching this bird fly from the willow trees to the cottonwood trees, staying relatively low (most of the time eye-level). Empid very similar to eastern willow flycatcher (ie rounded head, whitish throat, yellow orange lower mandible, and little tail flicking except when landing on a perch, and staying low to the ground) however, the head looked darker gray which made the whitish throat stand out more, and the wings were dark black making the wingbars and edges of the secondaries and tertials look whiter and brighter than willow flycatchers. In addition, the back of the bird seemed more olive gray (less brown) than willow flycatchers, and the eyering was more noticeable (seemed brighter). There were also times when the bird called and made the reee BEEE sound and pips of an alder flycatcher.
