Gentoo and Adelie Penguins on snow, preening . Gentoo Penguins (Pygocelis papua) are the third largest penguin species. They are abundant in Antarctic seas, and also occur on the subantarctic islands. These birds were nesting at Brown Bluff on the Antarctic Peninsula. There is also an Adelie Penguin rookery there.
