Poznámky
an awesome contrast of black and white.. the birds use their tail like a rudder to steer and stall in air
Podrobnosti k pozorování
*State Rarity- Distinctive high contrasting black (upperside) and white (underside, head) adult kite with unmistakable deeply forked tail. I initially discovered the bird when it flew over Huntsville Highway (Route 231/431/10)- about ten feet above the treeline. The initial area was in the Fayetteville Airport vicinity. I quickly drove into Hall Drive, parked car and sprinted to get pictures. A few pictures were taken, Unfortunately the bird kept flying south and I quickly sprinted back to my car and drove to a spot I thought a good probability, the bird would fly over. which it did.. for confirmation I was able to get photos with the bird over Triple C Ranch Lake and across the street, distinctive houses. The bird kept progressively moving south (and out of observer's view) towards the Huntsville Highway "Magic Mile" at the TN AL border.
