Podrobnosti k pozorování
This Sandpiper caught my eye as standing out in the 100+ Peeps that were in various groups on the flats. I took some initial pictures of various peeps for documentation and I had not focused on this bird. Later on, I became more aware of it at a different mudflat. It was slightly bigger than the rest of the Least and Semipalmated Sandpipers in the near area. Distinct was the dull/buff look of the chest along with a very crisp detailing on the scapular feathers/back with the white trimming. When looking at it through binocs, the back reminded me of the kind of detail found on the back of American Golden Plovers. I didn't feel like it was some kind of juvenile Pectoral as it didn't have the darker chest streaking. It has darker legs. Additional details are the slightly downturned bill/it seems to have the longer wings/ it was with a larger grouping of peeps but was off on its own away from them for the most part. I could be wrong but I've included several pictures to show size and details that I could capture from the distance I was at.
