Podrobnosti k pozorování
Female flew right over the toll road heading east. Heavy rains in the area from Tropical Storm Bill likely brought this bird inland. While driving N on SH 45, I noticed a large, dark bird flying towards me and immediately recognized it as a frigatebird. Traffic was heavy and my camera was in my backseat so I watched the bird as it flew overhead, noting the white chest and dark head that distinguish it as a female. It was low, perhaps 30 feet above the car and I watched it pass right over, viewing it through the sunroof. I Quickly turned around to try and get photos and eventually located the bird to the east side of the northbound lane as it flew over some power lines. The bird kited for a couple of minutes, facing south and into the wind, almost motionless, before it finally continued off to the east.
