Podrobnosti k pozorování
I was just about to get in my car at the Providence Road car park when a raptor flew over from the direction of the Back Paddock, heading North. I assumed it was the resident Whistling Kite so got off a couple of shots before jumping in the car and heading to Eynesbury. Just been reviewing the images tonight and immediately noticed that the tail and wing pattern don't look right for a Whistling Kite, and the bill is also much too large. After double-checking the reference guides I am sure it is a WBSE (Immature / juvenile). Look at the tail shape and how the feet are held, as well as the under wing pattern. Note the large bill in the fourth photo. No records of this bird here that I can find.
