NOTES: Physical Description of Sound; How Destinguished: roar of Howl (A1), incipient roar (A2), high roar coda (A3) all roars given by adult males are heard + whimper (G) probably given by juveniles; Apparent Biological Purpose of SOund: Probably serves to maintain inter group spacing; What Behavior Accompanied Vocalization: Sitting and various postures + movement among branches of sleeping tree; Three different males of the same social group participated in this hawling bout - at least one group can also be heard in the distance (estimated at 200-400 meters). the group was composed of 3 males, 7 females, 1 juvenile and 1 infant. whimper can be heard twice at 5 minute 45 second for about 1 minute and again at 8 minute continiung to end of the cut. recording level was increased at 9 minute 40 seconds into the cut; Habitat: Forest, Deciduous Forest.
