Podrobnosti k pozorování
Notes from Luke Seitz probably sufficient, but the below added a couple hours after observation. From LDS: 'Svich', he says. Part of the reason we came here was because MJI and CLW had both independently been intrigued by possible Audubon's callnotes heard on prior visits here. First noticed today feeding within 6in of water by MJI ad then it promptly flew across canal towards us and gave soft call ('svich', not 'check', as described by LDS above). MJI got AF, JHB, CLW, BLS, and LDS on the bird immediately and we all concurred that this was a classic Audubon's (HY male?) and not an intergrade. Key field marks included: lack of supercilium, giving even gray face; breast streaking a bit more blurry gray (similar in color and intensity to sides of face) and less black on pale breast shown by most Myrtles; pale yellow throat (not obvious at first, but seen to be obvious yellow in good light) with rounded lower rear corner, without any pale color wrapping up onto face; tail with extensive dark tips to rects from below; and call note. It fed along the canal, with at lest one Myrtle nearby but not really associating, and flew back and forth across canal several times. Even with 5/6 of Team Sapsucker there, specifically for a photo shoot, we found ourselves without a long lens with Chris's 24-105mm being the only documentor available. Chris made it look easy and got identifiable images, if not up to his usual full-frame standard: Identifiable audio recordings of call note also obtained by MJI using iPhone.
