Podrobnosti k pozorování
Likely more, reported earlier in the day (and the day before, October 24th). Heard calling noisily, sharp metallic "tink, tink, tink, tink-ti-tul" calls quite distinctive compared to the melancholic song and chatter of the Lesser Goldfinches also present. Eventually got good views and photos of an adult male. Overall gray "spinus" with a yellow breast and black face, throat, and crown contrasting with a pale bill. Black wings with contrasting yellow primaries as well. Whitish undertail with black tips to either side of a small notch. Seen in the stand of elms and a few salt cedars forming a thicket in the center of the park (behind the basketball court). Heard calling intermittently the entire time I was present but frustratingly difficult to pin down for looks. I had a pair calling above my head on two occasions that then flew off before I could get views.
