Podrobnosti k pozorování
!!!! 26th state record, and 2nd Whatcom Co. record! First seen very briefly, perched in an ornamental plum with a BHCO and soon flew away, uttering a low “chuck” call that immediately made me think Grackle. I chased the bird down and was able to confirm my suspicion. Looks like a female versicolor. Iridescent blurple head with bronzier wings. Pale eye, stocky bill, slightly keeled tail in flight, and larger than nearby Cowbirds. Coming to a feeder behind house 1; the owner of the house is very friendly and open to birders watching the feeder. Watched for about 10 minutes before it disappeared for a couple hours. Seen again very briefly at 3:37pm at the same feeder, which the owner had just filled. The owner also mentioned that he had noticed this larger Blackbird for the last week but didn’t know what it was. Photos attached.
