Observation details
Large wader similar in proportions and size to a Greater Yellowlegs. Gray upperparts (when standing) and mottled but largely whitish underparts. When flying, all upperparts are gray except for stark white line down back. Strong white supercilium; lores dark brown. Long, straight, thin bill is slightly decurved near tip. Bill black except for basal half of lower mandible which is conspicuously red. Reddish-orange (coral) legs and feet. Usually called when it flew. Call is chuweet, like a Semipalmated Plover.
