Observation details
This bird has a remarkably long, straight beak, with a magenta patch underneath. The bird's back is sort of an olive green (not as bright or iridescent as many other hummingbirds), but it also has a white stripe down the back and on the rump to the tail feathers. This is visible when they are flying, but usually hidden while perching. The tail itself has white tips on the outer feathers, similar to a scaly throated hummingbird's tail. They have a soft, raspy voice, and frequently vocalize.
