Observation details
Saw both male and female during the survey, but saw a male more frequently and did not seen both at once. At 0644 a kestrel of unidentified sex flew to the SSW ove reach 4, generally flapping, at ca 3x shrub height; I watched it to the vicinity of Birdseye Rd. At 0737 saw AMKE (male?) land on the fence ca 100 m N of the stream at the E end of reach 4. At 0843, a male flew low over reach 3 and landed in a dead alder stub at the photo point. Shortly, it took off again, then perched in a dead Chokecherry top at the E end of the row that is N of the stream, where it remained until 0849 at least. At 1225 I saw a kestrel (male?) in flight at ca 3x shrub height over the weedy field S of the stream in reach 3, kiting in the gentle W breeze for a minute or more. At ca 1323, I saw a male kestrel in flight to the N over the E part of reach 4 E of the nest box, towards 3 BARS in flight. I lost sight of them behind a hill; then at 1324 I saw 3 BARS flying W of the hill, N of the creek, no longer pursued by the AMKE. A EUST flew up after the AMKE flew past the creek, too. At 1355 I saw a female kestrel perched on the S fence of the sewage lagoon, then she flew around a short time and landed in a Russian-olive ca 20 m N of the fence.
