Observation details
Including 9 *beyond property boundary*. At 0723 I saw 1 perched in a Chokecherry at the very E end of reach 4 at the creek and saw another fly to a nearby round wood post. I wondered if there was a cavity on the far side of the post that it was visiting. Ca 0735, saw a starling perch near the stream at the very E end of reach 4 with a large clump of nesting material in its beak. It flew down out of sight, I thought to the same low wooden post along the creek. It flew back up a few seconds later without nest material. Saw several more trips in the next few minutes. At 1022, I saw 2 starlings ca 20 m S of the stream, SW of the rocky draw, relatively sedentary for a minute on the ground within 1 m of each other, then moving around a bit on the ground and apparently foraging. This microsite was on level ground in a dense patch of Alyssum. At ca 1323, I saw a male kestrel in flight to the N over the E part of reach 4 E of the nest box, towards 3 BARS in flight. I lost sight of them behind a hill; then at 1324 I saw 3 BARS flying W of the hill, N of the creek, no longer pursued by the AMKE. A EUST flew up after the AMKE flew past the creek, too. At ca 1411, I saw 5 EUSt in flight beyond the property E of the start point, and 4 near the Head Ranch buildings, including 1 perched on a chimney.
