Observation details
Dark faint eye ring, not white like Least Flycatcher, broad based bill with paler lower mandible, no darker feathers on breast and flanks like Western Wood-Pewee. Whitish color of throat continued down breast, belly and flanks. Only took one photo, was attempting to get more when bird was startled by a noise and flew away. I have reviewed numerous recent photos submitted to eBird and my photo is consistent with recent submissions, identical to some. Recent sightings of this bird within the last week have been reported in Ozona, at Independence Creek Preserve and in Sanderson. Not a stretch for one of those birds to find it's way to Midland. The eBird photo reviewer and discussions with a local expert prompted me to undertake further research and review.
