Media notes
A poor recording, but you can hear the classic crescendo characteristic of this insect-like trill. Sibley's App describes how the song "begins slowly and builds up." It's a good way to differentiate from other trill songs like those of the Pine Warbler or Chipping Sparrow. It's as if the WEWA realizes after starting his song that he must now push through it to get it across the finish line. The extra effort is worth it! Love this aspect of the song.
