Observation details
Numbers may have decreased, but hard to get an accurate count. Once again, pairs flushed from the stream on numerous occasions. At 0738 I saw 2 males in flight with 1 female over reach 4, then one of the males peeled off. Around 0902, a pair had flushed (again?) from reach 3, near a flooded area with alder. They made several circles upstream and downstream, the female quacking as they passed by. I saw a single male in flight at the same time, then lost sight of him but saw a second pair in flight while the first pair continued to make these elliptical circles. Pair seen later in the edge of the stream at WIFL Flats, surprisingly cryptic. Notably, they did not flush, unlike the vast majority of the Mallard sightings here. On the return at 1215, I saw a MALL pair foraging at the edge of the stream in the vicinity of the constructed wetland - they as well did not flush!
