Media notes
This is the first sighting of the Caribbean Martin (Progne dominicensis) for Cuba. I found the image and ID as an adult male of Caribbean Martin in flight while I was searching in internet (it was reffered as Cuban Martin). I contacted to the photographer and he gave me further details about the sighting, allowing me to use and refer it on this media. The photography was taken by Moth Clark in Hotel Río de Luna y Mares, Rafael Freyre Municipality, Holguín province, Cuba, 11 April 2011 at 15:20. Caribbean Martin males (Adults) show a prominent white patch on the abdomen extended to undertail, strongly contrasting with the black (glossy purple-blue) on the breast. No other males of any Martins in Cuba have this prominent white bellow. Males of Cuban and Purple Martins are overall black (glossy purple-blue).
