Observation details
At 0857 a male flew low over the E part of reach 3 along the stream (glimpsed bright yellow throat in flight) and landed in an alder near the reach 3/4 boundary. We retraced our steps and Stephen heard "chep" calls a few times, then we both heard a single "chep" as the warbler flew N at 0900. I watched it through my binoculars as it continued into the far distance to the N or NNE. At ca 0913 I heard a "chep" call from a YRWA in the middle of reach 3, apparently in flight, and saw a small bird that was apparently the warbler flying downstream and landing in the E part of reach 3 in a shrub. We backtracked and at ca 0920 observed a female AUWA flitting and apparently gleaning for several minutes in a shrubby willow, making occasional "chep" calls and on 2 occasions sallying out over the grasses.
