Media notes
On sonogram the three calls show as faint, vertical bars between 3 and 5 on the scale. iBird describes the calls as "quock."
Observation details
At least three. Probably 6 sightings, some in excellent light. Bright cinnamon colors on wings with long, white outer edges on the cinnamon highlighted tail. Long primary wing tips. The good sightings of these birds were in stark contrast to the sighting of the Eastern Whip-poor-will. The Whip-poor-will was much darker (gray) with limited white on the tips of the outer tail feathers and with, comparatively, blunt wing tips. I have attached a weak recording of one of the three birds' "grof" (per Sibley's) calls as I flushed it. Most birds flushed from the ground and flew to good cover in low bushes, out of sight.
