Media notes
Very distant and windy. Digiscope with KOWA attachment to iPhone and KOWA scope.
Observation details
Previously reported by the monthly survey of Harriett M. Wieder RP today. Red-necked Phalaropes identified by their behavior; spinning feverishly, tirelessly, like 2 featherweight tops, as they foraged for food, and their needle-like bills, shorter than a Wilson's, thinner than a Red. Molting into alternate plumage with reddish-rust necks, with no dark stripe (not Wilson's). Found in (and toward the back of) the most eastern pond below and east of Harriett M. Wieder RP. Light was fading fast once I finally found the pair and tried to digiscope. Really taxed the limits of my 60X scope and iPhone.
