Observation details
First heard calling far overhead, and I started recording it with my phone, thinking it sounded really familiar but I couldn't place it. Then it swooped down and landed on an old wooden flatbed trailer about 30ft in front of me. It was facing me, and at this point I assumed it was a Snow Bunting. I was able to get some photos, but the bird was facing me head-on for a few minutes, and I couldn't get a side view. It finally moved a few times before flying away again, and I was able to get a side shot. No flight shots, unfortunately. Though the bird was alone, and there were no other buntings to compare it to, it struck me as being quite white overall, with limited black on the wings, and limited orange on the head. Though I thought I might have a female McKay's Bunting here, expert opinions have been that this is a male Snow.
