Media notes
Fairly certain on this ID. I heard them flying over most every day, but only saw them while I was making this recording so could not raise my binoculars. They were small parakeets with short tails. Very similar to other recordings of this species. Other possibilities based on vocalizations are Bolborhynchus lineola and Touit huetii. The birds appeared too large for B. lineola (when flying high they are barely visible), the habitat (no Chusquea), the direction of flight (to the lowlands), and elevation all point away from B. lineola. The vocalizations are ok for Touit huetii but they are not generally known from foothill localities whereas T. sticopterus is a foothill specialist.
