Observation details
This entry is being added a month after the sighting, and I am not 100% certain the photo of the wing is of the same bird as the other photos, but I am pretty sure that it is the same bird (there were a few other scaup around, but they mostly stayed separated from this individual). Rounded head, and large bill with large hook, seem to point towards a female Greater Scaup. The white in the wing appears to extend too far for Lesser, but because it is folded, I'm not sure if I am judging that very well. Received a few comments from experienced birders through TexBirds and private messages that seem to agree so far. Will update if someone disagrees.
