Observation details
Heard a song I didn't recognize so I was drawn in to investigate the source...it was one of three Scarlet Tanagers, two scarlet-red black-winged males, with a green-yellow, darker-winged female, together interacting in the same tree. The song was atypical for this species. Rather than the variable extended song, this was shorter and consisted of 5-6 note phrases that were for the most part limited to only two notes: musically, a root note and a lower fifth, and bouncing back and forth between the two, usually doubling each note. Possibly a male trying to learn his song. Faint recording obtained.
