Observation details
Including 1 *beyond property boundary*. At least 3 individuals singing (in infrequent bouts). At 0935 I noted that so far I was hearing most singing NE of reach 4 in the vicinity of Head Ln. While driving in I had counted 5 WEME perched on the wire fence along Head Lane in a few hundred m N of the bridge. Where the birds grouped up along the road, related to the snow cover? Around 0958, a meadowlark sang for a while from the N part of the sewage lagoon fence ca 100 m E of the property and another responded more distant SE. While eating lunch ca 50 m NE of the raised hill at 1332, 2 WEME flew over to the SW at ca shrub height, at least 1 making upslurred, HOFI-like "weet?" calls. Another had flown over on a similar course a few minutes before, making a partial song (just a whistled note) and then a full song while in flight.
