Observation details
The female (we believe female) that Brian Johnson found along the west side of the shorebird pool. Feeding on the exposed sand. It was a bit buffy looking like a juvenile - so maybe a first-year female coming out of juvenile plumage. The plump body and short, slightly curved bill were seen well. We did see the orange legs once. The legs are probably getting mud covered. The scaly back look and the buffy plumage coloring were distinctive and the way we picked it out. It was moving around like crazy!
