Observation details
This hummingbird had been coming to the feeders of this couple, but they did not realize that it was so rare in our area. They were more concerned about the fact that it was getting too cold for it. They eventually contacted someone in the Ben Goss Bird Club who determined that the bird was an Anna's Hummingbird. An article was written up about it in the Journal after it was trapped and then released into the Tropical Dome at the Mitchel Park Domes where it survived for several years. It was an adult male with a rose-red head and throat, slightly larger than a RTHU.
