Observation details
I only definitely identified a few birds so there may have been other types of parrot or parakeet as well. About 15 or 20 flocks of parrots flew by while I watched them. Most of the birds I was only able to observe flying. All the flying birds looked parrot-shaped to me (with my limited parrot experience). Some had slightly longer tails. I was able to study about a dozen parrots who perched in a bare tree with fruit (catkins?) next to an apartment building in the gated apartment complex across the way. Of the perched birds, the only red in the wing was a small patch at the edge of the wing just above where the wing crosses the tail. On the head, one bird had more extensive red (lores and crown). That bird was perched with another with less red, who groomed the first bird. The others I could see had less red (though light was fading) and all that I could see had yellow bills, except one with a duller beak. I didn't see any blue or yellow (except yellow in the tail of one bird). That parrot's spread tail from below had central green all the way to the end of the tail feathers and yellow feathers on both sides. Wondering whether that makes that one lilac-crowned?
