Observation details
Amazed to find this one! Picked up by call and seen well in company of New Holland Honeyeaters along Howe Flat Track near the beginning of the boardwalk/track to the ocean. Obvious large, triangular white patch on lower half of face with dark iris. Substantial white patches on sides of forehead merging into thin white eyebrows running along edges of crown. Black chin and central throat area. bill appeared marginally longer than that of a typical New Holland. Contact call sounded more mellow than New Holland Honeyeater, often being double-noted. Also heard the unique, melodious song on a couple of occasions. Banksias and Eucalypts both in good flower here with lots of activity, and bird was seen feeding on both, and also sallying for insects. Potentially more than one bird present.
